Sweden’s David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig, along with Americans Taryn Brasher and Kristen Cruz, captured gold medals at the opening Elite event of the 2026 Beach Pro Tour season in João Pessoa.
Åhman and Hellvig led the men’s field with a strong run, winning seven matches and conceding only one set. They secured the title with a straight-sets victory over France’s Rémi Daubas and Calvin Aye, 21-16, 21-18. The French pair took silver for the second straight year, while Americans Taylor Crabb and Andy Benesh earned bronze after Brazil’s Evandro Gonçalves and Arthur Lanci withdrew from the match.
On the women’s side, Brasher and Cruz completed an unbeaten campaign, defeating Brazil’s Eduarda “Duda” Lisboa and Ana Patrícia Ramos 21-16, 21-19 in the final. Fellow Americans Kelly Cheng and Megan Kraft finished third, overcoming Italy’s Claudia Scampoli and Giada Bianchi 22-20, 21-12.
The Beach Pro Tour now heads to Tlaxcala, Mexico, for its next stop.
