Mr. Meyer briefed the delegates in attendance about the outcome of the meetings he had in the past months with the CEV Executive Committee and Board as well as in the frame of his many activities and regular involvement for the FIVB.

Starting from the analysis of the developments recently observed on the international arena, Mr. Meyer stressed the importance of maintaining cohesion and unity across all member Federations in order to assert and preserve the interests of Europe’s Volleyball family on the global stage.

The CEV President additionally invited the Zonal Associations and SCD to encourage their members to register for the qualification process whereby the European contingent for the 2014 FIVB World Championship will be determined. The deadline is set for this coming August 1 and Mr. Meyer used this opportunity also to recall that the organizers of the first round scheduled for early January 2013 will be financially supported in order to stage such tournaments. Mr. Meyer touched also upon the development centers that are seen as the next step to support the promotion of Volleyball in Europe thereby inviting his colleagues from the Zonal Associations to join this action and cooperate closely with the recently created CEV Development Department.

The Zonal Associations and the SCD reported about their respective activities for the past 12 months, especially for the youth and junior age groups, not to forget Beach Volleyball with the Eastern European Volleyball Zonal Association (EEVZA) having successfully launched its own tour already last year, something that may turn into a masterpiece for all other Zonal Associations. Representatives of the EEVZA will be sharing their experience via a special workshop to be held in combination with the next CEV Congress scheduled for November 16-17 in Luxembourg. Additional praise was deserved to the BVA that contracted a general sponsor, Halkbank, which will be supporting its activities as well as all tournaments taking place there in the Balkans.

Mr. Meyer expressed his gratitude and acknowledgement for the work being promoted by all Zonal Associations, by the SCD and their respective members whose efforts have steadily contributed to the growth of Volleyball across Europe.
