A difficult moment has hit European champions VakifBank Istanbul, who have confirmed worrying health updates involving Katarina Dangubic and Derya Cebecioğlu.

Dangubic suffered a serious knee injury during the semifinal of the CEV Women’s Champions League, forcing her to leave the court. Further tests showed a torn ACL in her left knee, meaning surgery is unavoidable. The procedure will take place in Serbia, where she’ll also begin the first phase of her recovery before doctors decide when she can return to action.

At the same time, Cebecioğlu faced her own health scare. After experiencing strong abdominal pain she was taken to hospital, where doctors discovered a bleeding cyst. She underwent surgery shortly after, and thankfully, the operation went well. Her recovery is expected to take between four and six weeks.
Both players are now under close medical care, with the club expected to share updates as they progress.
