We are presenting Marek Sotola, the rising volleyball star from the Czech Republic.

He is 20-year old opposite, who will play for the first time abroad - Poitiers, France.

You are considered a rising star among volleyball experts - is this something that motivates you to push harder?

It motivates me, definitely. When I hear that someone praises me, it motivates me even more to work even more than before.”

The next station is Poitiers - your expectations?

I'm looking forward to my new club in Poitiers, because it will be a completely new experience for me. And I'm also looking forward to being able to move my game quality in such a quality team as Poitiers.”

How would you describe your journey with Ceske Budejovice?

I would describe the journey with Budějovice as a dream. Having an opportunity to play against the best teams in the world and the best players in the world such as Osmany Juantorena and to be able to play a balanced game with them, was a great experience for me.”

What is your volleyball dream?

My biggest volleyball dream is to play at the Olympics games, even though I know it's a long way from our current possibilities.”

What was the best moment of your career so far, a moment you won't ever forget?

The highlight of my career was when we won the men’s U18 European Championship in 2017 in Hungary.”

What have you been doing this summer, when we talk about training session? Have you tried to improve some volleyball elements?

During the summer, I focused on activities that I couldn’t afford during the season, such as cycling, mountain walking and beach volleyball.”
