During the second half of the season, Turkish volleyball team Eczacibasi had constantly seven players on the court. How’s it possible? It was possible only when Giovanni Guidetti’s wife was on court.
WorldofVolley contacted volleyball star Bahar Toksoy Guidetti to talkfirstly about her condition then about volleyball.
First of all, how do you deal with the pregnancy?
“Till now everything goes well, me and the baby we are doing fine! I am lucky because I never felt side effects of pregnancy. While I was playing during the previous months it was easy for me and for the baby as well.”
For how long you will be out of court and what’s the date of giving birth?
“Not so much hopefully. The expected birth time is the beginning of October. After that, of course, depends on our health situation I will try to return as soon as possible.”
Do you miss volleyball?
“To be honest, not yet. Until the last month I was still playing. I completed Turkish League with my club Eczacıbaşı. So it has been just 1 month I am far from it…”
Are you still practicing?
“Not volleyball anymore but I continue with exercises for my body condition.”
The national team of Turkey didn’t manage to qualify for Rio Olympics – is that a huge blow for Turkish volleyball?
“Rio was my dream after London for sure. But in Ankara didn’t go as we were expected. It’s a pity that Turkey couldn’t qualify for Rio while we have best clubs in Europe that playing high level volleyball with many national team players also! For sure we deserve to be in much higher position then where we are right now,” explains Bahar.
Where would you like to continue your career after the pregnancy?
“First of all I hope my body will react well after pregnancy like many other players before me. My first goal is to come back strong and I am working for that. I finished last year in Eczacıbaşı with many good feelings! For sure if I can go back there I will be happy” says Bahar Toksoy-Guidetti at the end of the interview for WorldofVolley.
