Anna Spanou is one of the players who has gotten the opportunity to play volleyball in a country where this sport is very popular!

The Greek outside hitter is defending the colors of Bangkok Glass, trying to improve her skills as she could play in one of the best leagues in the world. Let’s read about her experience in Thailand.

How would you rate your performances in a jersey of Bangkok Glass?

It’s definitely a good experience for me to play in a league like this. I am getting faster here especially in the defense and I am happy about that, I am very grateful to my teammates and coaching staff, they helped me a lot for my quick adaptation,” says Anna Spanou for WorldofVolley.

Since you’ve played in Europe and now you are playing in Thai league – What are the main differences?

The main differences are that they are playing very fast and with a lot of combinations.”

Is Nootsara Tomkom well known there among volleyball fans?

She is famous here, like every other player of the national team because volleyball in Thailand is very popular. I am very lucky to play together with legend players of Thailand like Wanna Buakaew and Pleumjit Thinkaow.”

What about the fans? Are they crazy about volleyball?

Fans here are really crazy about volleyball, especially Bangkok Glass fans, the gym is always fully packed in each game and the atmosphere is wonderful. My club has really a perfect volleyball tradition although it’s a young club in volleyball.”

Did you get used to living there?

At the beginning, it was hard to get used to living in this country, however after a month of adaption, everything was alright and now I am a big fan of this wonderful country Thailand. The people are so friendly. I am very happy here.

What are your goals for the next season?

My goal is to play another high-level volleyball season and wherever I go to get better and better! My manager will visit me here soon and discuss my future.”

So far, you played in Greece, Spain and Thailand – in which country you would like to play in the future?

In the future I would like to try a lot of high-level leagues, to grow up as a player and to get more experience.”
