In last weekend’s game between Poland and Russia, Poland’s Katarzyna Skowronska-Dolata was top scorer of the match with 41 points, beating Thailand’s Sittirak Onuma’s score of 30 points in a match, achieved during last year’s edition of the World Grand Prix.
Poland assistant coach Maciej Kosmol was full of praise for the performance of captain Skowronska-Dolata despite his team’s 3-2 defeat against Russia in pool A of the 2013 World Grand Prix.
“She did an amazing match, with both great spiking and blocking. She was a true leader. We played our best game of the weekend. Russia is the current world champion and has a great team. We have to keep improving“, he said.
Despite an outstanding personal performance, Skowronska-Dolata said the result was far more important than her own numbers.
“I prefer to score five points and my team win the match than score 41 and lose the game. It was a good match. We can’t say that we didn’t fight for the victory. We did our best, and that’s what we’ll always do“, said Skowronska-Dolata.
