GP: Skowronska prefers wins than points

Katarzyna Skowronska-Dolata

In last weekend’s game between Poland and Russia, Poland’s Katarzyna Skowronska-Dolata was top scorer of the match with 41 points, beating Thailand’s Sittirak Onuma’s score of 30 points in a match, achieved during last year’s edition of the World Grand Prix.

Poland assistant coach Maciej Kosmol was full of praise for the performance of captain Skowronska-Dolata despite his team’s 3-2 defeat against Russia in pool A of the 2013 World Grand Prix.

She did an amazing match, with both great spiking and blocking. She was a true leader. We played our best game of the weekend. Russia is the current world champion and has a great team. We have to keep improving“, he said.

Despite an outstanding personal performance, Skowronska-Dolata said the result was far more important than her own numbers.

I prefer to score five points and my team win the match than score 41 and lose the gameIt was a good match. We can’t say that we didn’t fight for the victory. We did our best, and that’s what we’ll always do“, said Skowronska-Dolata.
