Mexico, the host team, will play against Japan at the High Performance Center on October 5 at 20:00 Pacific Time, after the Opening Ceremony scheduled at 19:00, according to the Organising Committee during a meeting Friday in Tijuana.
The first match at the High Performance Center was set to be played by Italy and Turkey, two of the European countries with a great volleyball tradition, at 15:00 hours.
At the same time, the State Auditorium in the City of Mexicali will host Pool B actions. The United States will play against Kenya at 15:00 while China and Germany are expected to be on the court at 17:00. Brazil and Cuba will close the first day action at the venue.
After finishing the first phase of the World Championship, the first two places of each pool will advance to semifinals, while the third and fourth will play for positions 5th to 8th.
There is a rest day scheduled on October 10. The teams that will play in Mexicali and qualified among the Top 8 will travel to Tijuana to play the second round of the Tournament at the High Performance Center.
October 3rd is the date expected for teams arrivals. However Dominican Republic returned from Omaha, Nebraska, to continue with its preparation for the World Championship in Mexico, while The United States National Team is expected to arrive on Saturday, while Cuba is expected to arrive on Sunday according to the Local Organising Committee.
The Mexican team will be in Tijuana until Wednesday after holding a training camp in Monterrey.
