Although it was a straight sets victory, it wasn’t just a walk in the park for winning side. Thailand could have easily won the second set and who knows what would have happen afterwards. But, Japan won it on points difference and just finished the dispirited opponent.
Japan captain Saori Kimura was the top scorer in the match with 18 points, while Saori Sakoda added 15. Yuki Ishii and Risa Shinnabe contributed 11 points apiece in the victory.
Thailand were led by Wilavan Apinyapong and Onuma Sittirak who both scored 14 points.
