This facility has already played host to quite many international events including the 2005 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, the 2007 FILA Wrestling World Championships and last year’s World Amateur Boxing Championships. With a capacity of 7’800 the hall will be the right place for some of the best Volleyball players in the world to showcase their skills and class.

Even though the Azeri teams did not qualify for the final four, the local organizers are devoting much energy to the preparations of a memorable Volleyball weekend, with Azerbaijan being seen as one of the real Volleyball “Meccas” in Europe at the moment.

The semifinals will open the program on Saturday 24, with RC CANNES of France and MC-Carnaghi VILLA CORTESE of Italy extending their rivalry after crossing their ways twice in the prelims while Dinamo KAZAN of Russia and Turkey’s Fenerbahce Universal ISTANBUL are the headliners of the other semifinal match.

All journalists and media intending to attend this unique Volleyball festival are invited to apply for their accreditation by using the official form available here and returning it by next March 19 at the latest via e-mail (the relevant address is indicated at the bottom of the form).

Additional info for all those who are about to make it to Azerbaijan: the official media hotel selected by the local organizers is the Hotel Anatolia (www.hotelanatolia.az) while foreign fans are invited to contact two more hotels located in downtown Baku, the Hotel Ambiance (www.hotelambiance.az) and the Hotel Ambassador (www.hotelambassador.az) for their accommodation.
