Japan’s Akiko Hasegawa & Miki Ishii and Canada’s Melissa Humana-Paredes & Brandie Wilkerson secured their spots in the women’s eighthfinals, while Chile’s Marco Grimalt & Esteban Grimalt and the USA’s Miles Evans & Chase Budinger advanced in the men’s bracket.
On women’ tournament Hasegawa & Ishii defeated Lezana Placette & Alexia Richard 2-0 (21-15, 21-18). In the second women’s match Humana-Paredes & Wilkerson triumphed 2-0 (21-15, 21-12) over Barbora Hermannova & Marie-Sara Stochlova.
In the men’s draw, the Grimalt brothers advanced by default when Canada’s Samuel Schachter & Daniel Dearing withdrew due to injury. Lastly Evans & Budinger secured a 2-0 (21-19, 21-17) win against Thomas Hodges & Zachery Schubert.
These results set the stage for an exciting final 16 in the tournament.
