WL: Italy swept Brazil with ease, Zaytsev – “It feels good!”

by WoV

Maybe a surprise for some, but Italy just trounced Brazil both times and showed that sleeping giants are back.

Amazing performance from Italy in the first set where the “Azzurri” blocked Brazil six times and earned a starting lead.

Italy led during most of the second period but switch from Bernardo (Vissotto for Theo) gave Brazil the push and two set points! Italy saved the first and then Sidao spiked the ball out for a tie 24-24. Still Sidao recovered and blocked the next point for another set point that Brazil materialized into 1-1!

Bouncing between the teams is this game’s story. Italian block started working again and the Europeans regained the lead 23-25.

Brazil didn’t have enough strength to cope with Italy’s defence so “Azzurri”went on and took another win from the home team.

Brazil – Italy 1-3 (17-25, 26-24, 23-25, 20-25)

Zaytsev: “It feels really good to be able to start competition with two wins and to enjoy them in this beautiful Italian jersey. I’m very happy about our play and hope it continues.”
