GP 2014: Marichev – “I hope that this victory unites us”

Russia eased to a straight sets (27-25, 26-24, 26-24) win over Germany in front of their home fans in Kaliningrad DC Yantarny on Sunday to seal the final spot in the 2014 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix Finals.

Margareta Kozuch, Captain of Germany: “I congratulate Russian team. We are very satisfied with the organization. But we are disappointing that we will not go to Japan. Grand Prix is a very good possibility to investigate our game before the World Championship”.

Giovanni Guidetti, Head Coach of Germany: “We tried to do everything to win the match. In the beginning we had problems but we put all our efforts. Attack is our problem like technics. We should work hard, and we have one month more and I know what I have to do to improve the team”.

Ekaterina Kosianenko, Captain of Russia: “After difficult period in Brazil we need to win the game. Full hall and volleyball fans, their support help us. We improved from match to match. We can cope with receiving but we will work more on it. I congratulate everybody with our victory”.

Yury Marichev, Head Coach of Russia: “I would like to thank all spectators. Their support was amazing. We heard the full hall. In this hall we cannot lose the match. I thank my team. Physiologically it is difficult to win three matches because every game is deciding. I hope that this victory unite us more.
