Brazil coach Zé Roberto Guimaraes: “It is a big honor for Brazil to be here. It is a huge tournament with very competitive teams. Pool B may be one of the strongest ones. However, the tournament is long and with 13 matches to be played until the gold medal clash, many things can happen. Every game can be decisive.”

Bulgaria coach Vladimir Kuzyutkin: “In the past three month Bulgaria won a couple of tournaments. Unfortunately, we lost Eva Yaneva due to an injury just some days ago. Bulgaria is a small country and the choice of excellent players is different from other nations. My favorites for the crown are World. No 1 Brazil.”

Canada coach Arnd Ludwig: “Except from the FIVB World Grand Prix, Canada have not played much this year. Our goal is to work hard and qualify for the next phase. Still, we have ten players in our team who have not played at world champs so far.”

Cameroon coach Jean Rene Akono: “We have not the same experience as other big volleyball nations have but will do our best to learn from them. We had a good preparation with a three-month program to get ready for the much-awaited competition. My players are very excited, as they know some of the world’s best players only from TV. The world championship serves us as a first step for a brighter future. The Africa Games in 2015 and the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio might be the next big challenges.”

Serbia coach Zoran Terzić: “We did not play well at the FIVB World Grand Prix, but improved during the preparation for the world champs. The strongest teams in this competition are Russia, Brazil, USA, Turkey and Serbia. We are happy to play in Trieste, as there is a huge community of Serbian inhabitants.

Turkey coach Massimo Barbolini: “It was a difficult start into the national team season for Turkey as many players suffered from injuries after the club competitions. However, we played a very strong European League and Grand Prix campaign. Still, the tournament here will be a very difficult affair for us. Nevertheless, we dream about going to the finals in Milan.”
