On Wednesday Hungary was drawn in Pool B and will start their European adventure on September 26 in Antwerp, playing the ‘Yellow Tigers’ and then take on Turkey and the winner of a third-round fixture starring Azerbaijan and Slovakia.
“So far, since I started working with the national team of Hungary all of my dreams have been fulfilled,” says head coach Jan De Brandt, who – to add even more flavour to the story – is also from Belgium.
“In my dreams I wanted to play Belgium and Turkey, since I know both these teams very well. I do not need to explain why, at least as far as the team from my home country is concerned. On the other hand, I have been working for some time in Turkey and so I can say that I know them quite well too. I am sure that we will be playing both teams in a full house since a lot of people of Turkish descent are living and working in Belgium. Our goal is to finish third in the pool, which would be enough to make the Playoff round.”
