They came from two sets behind to hammer out a 3-2 (22-25, 23-25, 26-24, 25-19, 15-7) victory over India to leave their opponents in the eighth position.

Indian spikers Kumar Sohan and Anup D’Costa led India to a 25-22 win in the first set with the latter hitting for the last point.

Both teams stepped up their blocking efforts to provide for a more competitive second set, but the Asian team was once again able to stay on top – 25-23.

Between sets two and three Argentine coach Fabian Muraco made several substitutions that proved successful. Despite making too many errors in the third set, the South Americans emerged victorious by 26-24 to stay alive in the match.

Improving both their blocking and serving performance, Argentina broke away in the fourth set to close it at 25-19.

They established their total superiority in the tie-breaker to win it by 15-7 and achieve a complete turnaround for the final 3-2 in the match.

Argentine player Gonzalo Quiroga excelled with 21 points to become the best score of this classification match. Anup D’Costa was India’s most prolific player with 15 points.
