The vice-champions Praia prevailed over champions Minas at home in the Clássico Mineiro (derby of the State of Minas Gerais) that closed the first half of the 2019/20 Superliga Feminina regular season: 3-2 (25-21, 16-25, 22-25, 25-19, 15-9) in 2 hours and 22 minutes. With the victory, Praia tied with Sesc RJ on the top of the charts at 29 points (10-1), but have a lower set ratio. Minas, who were unbeaten for 9 games since the beginning of the season, have suffered 2nd successive defeat to remain 3rd placed with 27 points.
Due to a lot of arguing with referees in the 3rd set, both head coaches (Paulo Coco from Praia and Italian Nicola Negro from Minas), got red cards. American Nicole Fawcett top-scored for Praia with 20 points, while Ana Carolina Silva “Carol” was outstanding in blocking rivals (8 kill blocks). Venezuelan Roslandy Acosta tallied 19points for Minas, while Thaísa Menezes made 5 kill blocks.
