Riad has heavily criticized Taubaté for terminating the contract with him while he was still recovering from the injury that he sustained serving the Brazilian National Team during summer. Firstly, his manager also criticized the club.
“They (Taubaté) did not care about me. I was simply abandoned by the club. It’s a shame because I went through something I do not want any athlete to go through. I paid examinations out of my pocket I paid treatments out of my pocket, while during that, they haven’t spoken ‘Riad, you should do this, it will help you.’ I suffered a lot and the neglect by Taubaté and their board is something that, to this day, I’m still feeling,” Riad was furious.
He added that he received threats from Taubaté since injuring which included salaries suspension.
In meantime, the middle blocker got treatment from the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV) when he was called to the National Team.
