Even though PAOK had a great support at PAOK Sports arena, they didn’t manage to take even a set against United Volleys in the first leg of the third round of Champions League qualifications!

United Volleys

The third-placed team from the last season in Bundesliga has almost taken the spot in the group stage, after today’s away victory over PAOK 3-0 (27-25, 25-17, 25-21). PAOK will now have a mountain to climb and to prevent German side taking two sets in front of their crowd, if they want to reach POOL A, Zenit Kazan (RUS), Halkbank (TUR) and Knack Roeselare (BEL) are already waiting.

Morlitz Karlitzek was the best scorer in United Volleys with 16 points, while Alexander Shafranovic had 10 on the other side. Mitar Djuric didn’t have a good game tonight, finishing the match with 19% in the attack.

Chaumont have also scored a 3-0 victory over the Serbian team Vojvodina 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-23). Matej Patak scored 13, while his teammate Julien Winkelmuller added 12! On the other side, Reydel Fundora ended the game with 13 points.

The second leg game in Novi Sad is going to be very interesting.

Men’s Champions League, first leg:

PAOK – UV Frankfurt 0-3 (25-27, 17-25, 21-25)

Chaumont – Vojvodina 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-23)
