Slovenia qualified for the semi-finals of the CEV Men’s EuroVolley 2021 after beating the Czech Republic 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 27-25) in the quarter-finals in Ostrava, thus taking revenge on the rival in the best possible way for the defeat in the group stage.

Alberto Giuliani’s protégés showed an excellent performance against the high-flying Czechs, who had previously eliminated the Olympic champion France in the Round of 16, and made it to the semis in the continental championship for the third time in six years. The win of the silver medalist from the last edition of the tournament was the most beautiful gift for the 35th birthday of its setter Dejan Vinčić. The only hope the Czechs had in this match was a four-point lead in the third set.

Tonček Štern highlighted Slovenia in attack with 19 points, while Jani Kovačič had 82 % reception (17 digs, 82 % excellent). Jan Galabov scored 13 points on the losing side.
