However, the real drama unfolded in the second Eight-Final of the evening between Bulgaria and Slovakia. The match ended 3-2 in favor of Bulgaria, with set scores of 16-25, 17-25, 25-19, 25-20, and 15-9. Radostina Marinova shined as the top scorer for Bulgaria, contributing 15 points to her team’s tally. On the Slovakian side, Karin Sunderlikova was the standout player with 12 points, although her efforts ultimately weren’t enough to secure the win.

The thrilling victory ensures that Bulgaria will now face the Netherlands in the quarterfinals, set for Tuesday, August 29, at Palazzo Wanny in Florence. In another highly anticipated quarterfinal matchup, host nation Italy will go head-to-head against France.
