In a one-sided affair, VakifBank cruised to a 3-0 victory over PGE Rysice Rzeszów in the Women’s CEV Champions League playoff match on Tuesday. The Turkish champions showcased their superiority in every set, winning 25-20, 25-12, and 28-26.
Leading the charge for VakifBank was Gabriela Gabi Guimaraes, who earned the MVP title with an impressive 17-point performance. Other key contributors included Frantti with 18 points and Ogbogu and Thompson, each adding 12 points. In contrast, Coneo was the top scorer for Rysice with 20 points, followed by Orvosova with 12.
The Turkish team’s victory strengthens their bid for a historic third consecutive Women’s Champions League title. The teams are set to face off again on February 8th in Turkey.
