CEV CL M: Resovia Dominate at Home; Champions League Action Resumes

The men’s CEV Champions League returned after the holiday pause with a full night of action, and it was a convincing performance from Asseco Resovia Rzeszów that set the tone. The Polish side claimed a clear 3–0 win over SVG Lüneburg in Pool D, wrapping up the match in just over an hour.

From the opening points, Resovia were in complete control. Strong serving and disciplined work at the net quickly put the hosts in charge, while Karol Butryn led the attack with another high-scoring display (19 pts) that earned him MVP honours. Lüneburg struggled to cope with the pressure, as Resovia dictated play in all three sets and rarely allowed the visitors to find any rhythm.

Pool D also saw Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie continue their winning run. Playing away in Lisbon, the Polish outfit defeated Sporting CP Lisboa in straight sets. Despite the 3–0 result, the match was tightly contested, particularly early on, before Zawiercie’s experience proved decisive. Aaron Russell topped the scoring charts, while captain Mateusz Bieniek was named the match’s most valuable player.

In Pool A, Trentino Itas showed resilience on the road, recovering from a slow start to beat Tours VB 3–1. After dropping the first set, the Italian side raised their level and gradually took control, with Théo Faure delivering a standout performance to secure a second group-stage victory.
