
Ziraat Bankkart Ankara delivered a landmark performance on home court, defeating Trentino Itas 3–0 in the CEV Champions League and becoming the first Turkish club to overcome the Italian side in the competition. The victory came in a clash between the last two unbeaten teams in Pool A and was sealed in front of a vibrant crowd in Ankara.
The hosts set the tone early, using strong serving and sharp attacking to dominate the opening set, which they closed comfortably at 25–15. Trentino responded with greater intensity in the second set and pushed Ziraat to the limit, creating several set points. However, the Turkish side showed composure in the decisive moments, saving multiple chances before edging a dramatic 33–31 win.
The third set followed a similar pattern, with both teams locked in a tight battle until the closing stages. Backed by the home fans, Ziraat raised their level once again and finished the match 25–22 to complete a straight-sets victory.
Nimir Abdel-Aziz was the standout performer and earned MVP honors after scoring a match-high 21 points for Ziraat Bankkart. He was well supported by Trevor Clevenot with 13 points and Tomasz Fornal with 12.
For Trentino Itas, Alessandro Michieletto led the scoring with 12 points, followed by Jordi Ramon with 11 and Theo Faure with 10.
The result keeps Ziraat Bankkart in control of Pool A, while Trentino Itas remain firmly in contention for a place in the knockout stage despite their first defeat of the group phase.
