Milano Cruise Past Olympiacos to Seal Champions League Quarterfinal Spot

Numia Vero Volley Milano turned in a commanding home performance sweeping Olympiacos Piraeus 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-11) to advance to the CEV Champions League Quarterfinals.

Playing in front of 2,826 supporters at the Opiquad Arena, Milano controlled the match from start to finish. Elena Pietrini earned MVP honors after leading the scoring with 13 points. Paola Egonu and Rebecca Piva each contributed nine, while Hena Kurtagic added eight points and played a key role at the net as Milano totaled nine team blocks. The Italian side also registered six aces and posted a 59 percent attack efficiency.

Olympiacos were unable to find consistent rhythm, finishing with a 32 percent attack rate. Kenia Carcaces and Yasmine Abderrahim paced the visitors with seven points apiece.

Milano established control early, dominating the opening set and maintaining pressure throughout the second to secure qualification. Even with rotations in the third set, the hosts did not ease off, wrapping up the match in just over an hour.

“I’m very pleased with the team’s performance,” Lavarini said after the match. “We approached the game with the right focus and maintained our level even after making changes. Now we face an important period, starting with the league playoffs and then the challenge against VakifBank in Istanbul.”
