CEV Cup M: Piacenza Capture First European Crown

Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza made club history by winning their first European title, defeating Germany’s SVG Lüneburg 3-0 to claim the 2026 CEV Volleyball Cup Men’s crown.

Playing in front of a sold-out PalabancaSport, the Italian side finished off the final in style after taking the advantage from the opening leg. Needing only two sets to secure the trophy, Piacenza delivered another dominant display.

The hosts controlled the first set to take it 25-20. They raised the level further in the second, racing clear early before sealing the set 25-17 and confirming the title.

Piacenza remained focused in the third set despite already clinching the trophy, overcoming a brief early deficit before closing out the match 25-21 to complete the sweep.

Alessandro Bovolenta led all scorers with 12 points, while Robertlandy Simon added 11 points and earned MVP honors. Axel Enlund was Lüneburg’s top scorer with 10 points.
