Having already battled back to win the opening final in five sets earlier this week, Sweden showed their resilience once again in Ljubljana. After Slovenia dominated the opening two sets in front of their home crowd, the visitors steadily shifted the momentum before completing a dramatic 3-2 victory to deny the hosts a Golden Set.

Isabelle Haak once again proved the difference, finishing with a match-high 28 points, including four in the deciding set, as Sweden claimed another European trophy following their European Golden League triumph in 2024.

Slovenia’s challenge was hampered by an injury to star player Fatoumatta Sillah during the comeback, while Sweden maintained their composure to finish the match strongly.

“It feels incredible. We had a tough start, but we believed we could turn it around. We never stopped fighting, and I think this team deserved the title,” Haak said after the victory.

Head coach Lorenzo Micelli praised his players’ determination throughout a demanding campaign and wished Sillah a speedy recovery, while Slovenia captain Saša Planinšec admitted her side was disappointed after surrendering a commanding lead but said the team had left everything on the court.

Result: Sweden bt Slovenia 3-2 (15-25, 18-25, 25-20, 25-18, 15-12).
