Finland completed a hard-fought comeback against Greece and Italy eased past Denmark to secure places in the EuroVolley 2026 men’s quarterfinals.
Finland needed all five sets to overcome Greece after falling behind twice. The Greeks took the opener 25-22 before Finland responded emphatically, winning the second 25-16.
Greece moved ahead again by claiming the third 25-22, putting Finland under pressure. The Finns answered with a narrow 25-23 success in the fourth before edging a tense deciding set 15-13, with Luka Marttila scoring the final point.
Luka and Nooa Marttila produced 21 points each for Finland, while Joonas Jokela finished with 20. Angelos Markou led Greece with 20 points.
Italy enjoyed a more comfortable evening at Palavela, defeating Denmark 3-0 in front of 7,580 spectators.
Denmark challenged the hosts in the opening set and fought back to 23-22 before Italy secured the final two points. From that moment, Italy took charge, winning the second set 25-16 and closing the match with a dominant 25-11 third.
The Italians registered 15 blocks, with Yuri Romanò contributing a team-high 14 points. Denmark’s Mads Kyed Jensen also finished with 14.
Italy will meet Finland in the quarterfinals.
