Lycurgus
Dobrudja had a huge support by home crowd in Varna, their players had great blocking performance (17-10), and nearly annulled Lycurgus’ 3-0 advantage from the first match. Bulgarian side had 2-1 lead and was a set away from the golden set but Lycurgus grabbed what they came for in Varna. They took fourth set, leveled at 2-2, and enjoyed in the tie-break that did not have any importance. As a small consolation to the home team, they took the fifth set 3-2 (25-19, 24-26, 27-25, 19-25, 15-13).
Former star of the Dutch National Team, Wytze Kooistra, was unstoppable in Lycurgus. He scored 19 points (1 ace, 3 blocks). On the other side, youngster Zhulien Georgiev had 17 points (4 blocks).
In the third and final round of Champions League Qualifications, Lycurgus will face Belgian runners-up Noliko Maaseik.
