CL W: Chemik prevail over Telekom in must-win Pool A game with huge blocking performance of their setter!

Chemik vs. Telekom

Chemik beat Azerbaijani runners-up Telekom Baku for the second time this season to claim place No. 2 in Pool A and keep Playoff chances alive, 3-1 (21-25, 25-16, 25-13, 25-16). But, the „Match Of The Week“, scheduled for tomorrow, will decide if Chemik will stay second-placed or even have a chance to settle at the top spot in the last round.

Chemik young opposite Malwina Smarzek scored game-high 15 points, but the highlight of the match was a setter of the Polish team Joanna Wołosz, who made 6 blocks of her 7 points overall! Chemik had 17 blocks comparing to 10 from Telekom, where a 21-year-old receiver Yelyzaveta Samadova scored 20 points.

In a duel for nothing but the prestige, Russian team Dinamo Krasnodar, who is chained with some heavy financial problems, suffered home 3-0 defeat from C.S. Alba Blaj. It was a premiere win for the Romanian champions in the tournament. Alba captain Adina Salaoru collected 18 points, while Nataliya Malykh had 11 for Dinamo Krasnodar.
