These two players had a chance to be in the final list but injury prevented them to compete for it. The Russian star Dmitriy Muserskiy will miss another big tournament while there was no place among middle blockers for Vadym Likhosherstov, who played at the FIVB World League tournament.

The head coach of Russia Sergey Shlyapnikov has chosen these 14 players for EuroVolley:

Setters: Aleksandr Butko, Sergey Grankin

Opposites: Maxim Mikhailov, Maxim Zhigalov

Middle blockers: Andrey Aschev, Iliya Vlasov, Artyem Volvich, Iliyas Kurkaev

Receivers: Yuriy Berezhko, Dmitriy Volkov, Egor Kliyuka, Egor Feoktistov

Liberos: Valentin Golubev, Roman Martinyuk

The European championship starts on Thursday night (August 24). Russia will play in Pool C along with Bulgaria, Slovenia and Spain.
