The current SuperLega titleholders Sir Colussi Sicoma Perugia added the second medal to their account in the CEV Champions League as they beat Zaksa Kędzierzyn-Koźle, Plus Liga silver medalists, in the match for the third place in 2018 Final Four held at Basket Hall, Kazan, Russia.
Despite trailing by a 1-0 and 2-1 to Zaksa, losing both sets, practically, without a fight, Perugia players managed to gather their strength to win the tie-break – 3-2 (17-25, 29-27, 19-25, 25-23, 15-7) and claim the bronze medal. The second set was especially dramatic as Perugia annulled five set points, avoiding to trail by two sets.
The Serbian Aleksandar Atanasijević poured in 24 points for Perugia. Simone Anzani added 5 kill blocks. The Puerto Rican Maurice Torres scored 22 points for the Polish side Zaksa.
In addition to the silver medal last year, this is the second overall medal of the Italian team in the tournament. Only the shiniest medal is pending…
