Omonia
The team based in Nicosia prevailed in playoff finals against Green Air Pafiakos 4-1, winning Game 5 on the road 3-0 (19-25, 30-28, 25-22). Thus, Omonia took third national title in a row.
Some of the players Omonia mostly relied on during the season, and all the way to the playoffs, were Brazilian receiver Rodrigo Silva, his compatriot and also a setter Adriano Lamb, middle blocker Sotiris Petrakidis… coached by a 36-year-old Savvas Savva. See Omonia roster for 2016/2017.
Game 5 will also be remembered as the last appearance of a legendary Cyprian referee Giannakis Sofokleous.
