Unicaja-Almeria
The powerhouse, and currently the third-placed side in Superliga, Unicaja Almería, was on the verge to suffer a surprising defeat to the seventh-placed Vecindario ACE GC in the island of Gran Canaria, located in the Atlantic Ocean.
Unfortunately for their fans, the home team did not have enough strength and skills to finish off the giants after having a 2-0 lead – 3-2 (19-25, 24-26, 25-19, 25-20, 15-11).
Both sided did well in reception – Vecindario 78%, Almería 73%. Javier Monfort from the visiting side, the best spiker of the league at the moment, delivered 27 points (2 aces, 3 kill blocks). The Brazilian João Gabriel Kulakauskas „Kulaska“ made 18 points, while his compatriot Moisés Santos contributed with 4 kill blocks (15 points).
