Germany opened their Women’s Volleyball World Championship campaign with a convincing 3–0 win over Kenya in Pool G.
Kenya started the first set brightly, even taking the lead at moments, but the Germans stayed composed and eventually edged it 25–22. From then on, the momentum shifted heavily. In the second set, Germany completely controlled the game, limiting Kenya to just eight points in a one-sided display. The third set was tighter, yet Germany’s discipline and experience carried them through 25–20 to secure the sweep.
Lina Alsmeier and Emilia Weske led the scoring for Germany with 13 points each, while captain Camilla Weitzel chipped in nine. Kenya’s Veronica Adhiambo Oluoch stood out with 19 points, proving to be her team’s most reliable scorer.
Elsewhere, the Dominican Republic comfortably defeated Colombia 3–0 in Pool F, while Japan started their campaign in Pool H with an equally emphatic 3–0 win.
