France made a statement of intent at the 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship in Quezon City, Philippines, sweeping Korea in straight sets to open their Pool C campaign.

The reigning double Olympic champions showed no mercy, sealing a 3-0 victory (25-12, 25-18, 25-16) with dominant serving and net control. France outclassed Korea in every department—spike kills (35-28), kill blocks (10-4), and service aces (10-0).

Jean Patry led from the front, delivering a match-high 16 points, including three aces and two kill blocks. He was the only player to hit double digits, finishing with a remarkable 73% success rate in attack. Substitute opposite Théo Faure added the winning point, while Heo Subong stood out for Korea with nine points.

Earlier in the day, Argentina stunned Finland with a comeback victory, setting up the next round of Pool C matches. France will face Finland, while Korea will try to bounce back against Argentina on Tuesday, September 16.
