In a momentous step for global volleyball, the FIVB and the International Volleyball Hall of Fame (IVHF) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen cooperation in honoring volleyball’s greatest legends and preserving the sport’s vibrant legacy.
The signing took place during the Class of 2025 Induction Celebration in Holyoke — the birthplace of volleyball and home of the IVHF. Established in 1978, the Hall of Fame has since inducted 185 volleyball icons from over 27 countries, serving as a cornerstone for celebrating the sport’s heritage.
Under this new partnership, the IVHF will be recognized as the sole international hall of fame within the volleyball community, while both organizations aim to collaborate on future initiatives, events, and educational projects that highlight volleyball’s history and inspire the next generation of players.
FIVB President Fabio Azevedo praised the partnership, calling it “a perfect reflection of the FIVB Strategic Vision 2032,” emphasizing that honoring legends is essential to promoting volleyball’s global values of teamwork, respect, and unity.
Meanwhile, IVHF Executive Director George Mulry described the agreement as “a defining moment for the sport,” aligning both organizations’ missions to preserve volleyball’s heritage and motivate future athletes worldwide.
This collaboration not only bridges the sport’s historic roots in Holyoke with its international growth but also reinforces the shared vision of keeping volleyball’s spirit alive — celebrating its past while shaping its future.
