FIVB WCC W: Scandicci claim Club World Championship title

Savino Del Bene Scandicci captured their first FIVB Women’s Club World Championship, defeating defending Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano 3–1 in the final.

Making their tournament debut, Scandicci 30–28, 25–19, 21–25, 25–23 at the Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu to become the third team from Italy to win the world title.

Ekaterina Antropova led Scandicci with 25 points and was later named the tournament’s most valuable player after finishing as the top scorer. Avery Skinner (18 pts) and Linda Nwakalor (14 pts) also played important roles as Scandicci completed a dominant campaign, dropping just one set in the competition.

The loss denied Conegliano a fourth world championship crown. Isabelle Haak (21 pts) and Gabriela Gabi Guimarães (19 pts) topped the scoring for the defending champions but could not prevent Scandicci’s historic breakthrough.

Earlier in the day, host club Osasco São Cristóvão Saúde secured the bronze medal with a straight-sets victory over Dentil Praia Clube, marking their fifth podium finish at the Club World Championship.
