FIVB WCC M: Zawiercie Edge Vôlei Renata in Five-Set Thriller

Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie claimed their first win at the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship after outlasting Brazil’s Vôlei Renata Campinas in a tense five-set encounter.

The Polish side showed resilience in a match marked by constant momentum swings, eventually prevailing 3–2 (25–19, 25–27, 25–19, 20–25, 16–14). The victory closed the opening day of competition in dramatic fashion.

Aaron Russell and Bartosz Kwolek anchored Zawiercie’s attack from the outside, contributing 19 and 13 points respectively. Russell matched opposite Bartłomiej Bołądź as the match’s joint top scorer, with both tallying 19 points to lead Warta Zawiercie through the decisive fifth set. The result earned Warta Zawiercie two points in Pool A, placing them second in the standings behind Brazil’s Praia Clube. Campinas collected one point from the narrow loss and currently sit third.

For the Vôlei Renata, Adriano Xavier led the scoring with 17 points, while middle blocker Judson Nunes and opposite Newton Fernandes added 13 points each.
