FIVB Responds to Growing Speculation Over Alleged Rule Changes

Speculation about possible rule changes has swept through the volleyball world over the past several days, with rumors suggesting that new regulations could already be introduced during this season’s Volleyball Nations League (VNL). The reports spread rapidly online, prompting widespread discussion among fans, athletes, and officials.

However, as no official confirmation had been issued, many media outlets refrained from publishing the claims. Now, the sport’s world governing body, the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), has released a formal statement to clarify the situation.

In its announcement, FIVB acknowledged that preliminary materials discussing possible future rule adjustments had circulated publicly. The organization emphasized that these documents reflect internal discussions only and do not constitute official decisions. At this stage, FIVB confirmed, no formal testing of new rules has been approved.

The governing body explained that it continuously evaluates different aspects of the sport through its commissions and councils. According to FIVB, such exploratory work is a routine part of ensuring the long-term fairness, integrity, and development of volleyball at all levels.

FIVB also stressed its commitment to a transparent and consultative decision-making process. Any future changes, the organization noted, would involve structured discussions with key stakeholders to safeguard the best interests of the sport and its athletes.

Importantly, FIVB underlined that any confirmed updates or official decisions regarding rule changes will be communicated exclusively through its official channels.
