A VNL-record 17,816 spectators filled the Nanjing Olympic Youth Sports Park Gymnasium, creating a vibrant atmosphere as the hosts claimed a 25-21, 25-21, 25-21 victory. The attendance surpassed the previous competition record of 17,034 set in Istanbul last year.

China’s attack was led by Tang Xin, Zhuang Yushan and Wang Aoqian, who each scored 14 points. The win gives the hosts valuable momentum ahead of their final match of the opening week against Poland.

Earlier in Nanjing, Belgium staged a dramatic comeback from two sets down to defeat Thailand in a thrilling five-set battle. Pauline Martin powered Belgium with 40 points, producing the second-highest individual scoring performance in VNL history. Thailand’s Pimpichaya Kokram finished with 37 points in defeat.
