A series of straight-Set victories highlighted Friday’s action in the 2026 Women’s Volleyball Nations League, with Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Serbia, Japan and China all collecting wins across three host cities.
Canada came through a difficult test against Bulgaria in Bangkok, winning 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-23, 28-26) after two very close sets.
After taking the opening set comfortably, Canada had to work much harder as Bulgaria responded well and stayed in the match until the final points. Kiera Van Ryk led Canada with 19 points, while Emily Maglio added 16. For Bulgaria, Borislava Saykova was the top scorer with 14 points.
Earlier, the Netherlands swept Ukraine in straight sets, 25-22, 25-17, 25-20. Middle blocker Indy Baijens delivered 16 points, including six blocks, as the Dutch claimed their third win of the tournament.
In Ankara, Germany defeated Belgium 3-0 to continue to climb up the standings. Emila Weske led the German side with 13 points, while Belgium’s Pauline Martin produced a match-high 16 points and remains the competition’s leading scorer.
China also earned a straight-sets victory over France, with Zhuang Yushan contributing 20 points in a 25-18, 25-17, 25-19 win.
Meanwhile, in Pasig City, Serbia and Japan both secured 3-0 victories. Serbia defeated Dominican Republic, while Japan beat Czechia.
