With 31 points Paola Egonu helped Italy to score another victory in Macao, this time against USA 3-2 (25-22, 22-25, 25-21, 18-25, 15-13).
Madison Kingdon Richeland Michelle Bartsch added 20 points each for the losing side.
After a big battle in the first four sets in the fifth was the same situation. Italy were the first team to earn a lead in the tiebreaker at 8-6. That two-point advantage was all they needed, as they finished the set, 15-13.
