CWCH M: How often do you see Cruzeiro being so powerless? BRUTAL Lube demolish defending champs!

What a display by Italian titleholders Lube against Men’s Club World Championship defending champions Cruzeiro in Opole – a straight-set win! How often does this happen to the Brazilian powerhouse?

Cruzeiro were in a game in the first set until 15-16 when Lube made a 4-1 run to secure themselves an easy finish for a 1-0 lead – 25-21.

Already at the first TTO in the second set, Lube created an untouchable gap 8-3 which forced Cruzeiro coach Méndez to change starting setter and opposite – Evandro and Uriarte out, Alemão and Fernando in. It was in vain as Lube players were merciless, finishing the set with 9 points ahead – 25-16!

Looking at the entire match, the third set was a period in which Cruzeiro had the most chance to make a step toward making a duel more uncertain in terms of the winners. They were breathing down Lube’s neck until the second TTO – 14-16. Even two time-outs in a row by Méndez, at 18-22 and 18-23, brought nothing new for Cruzeiro. Lube were simply on fire – 25-18.

The Bulgarian opposite Tsvetan Sokolov topped Lube with 20 points of which 6 were aces! The Cuban middle blocker Robertlandy Simón was the best scorer in Cruzeiro with 11 points.

PGE Skra Bełchatów from swept Chinese Shanghai by a 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-21) in Pool B in Łódź. The Serbian middle blocker Srećko Lisinac made a surreal display for the winning side with 25 points, including 6 kill blocks and 7 served aces! Rao Shuhan and French Julien Lyneel scored 12 points each for Shanghai. A former loved-one player in Skra, an Argentinean Facundo Conte scored only 4 points for the Chinese side.
