A year after prevailing over Chaumont in the single-match final of the French Championship, played in Paris, Tours have once again confirmed their supremacy over the same rivals. This time in the 2018/19 Ligue A Masculine playoff finals and in the best-of-three series.
After a five-set Game 1 at Chaumont’s home ground, the second match played at Tours’ Robert-Grenon hall had a totally different scenario: the top seed Tours won an eighth league title, winning Game 2 against the No.6 seed Chaumont by a 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-12) to close the series with a 2-0.
Thus, the legendary Tours and France national team libero Hubert Henno had a golden farewell as he decided to end his career when the curtain falls down on the 2018/19 season.
The Latvian opposite hitter Hermans Egleskalns top-scored for Tours with 21 points in Game 2, making 74% excellent attack (17/23, 1 error, blocked twice). Albanian Gazmend Husaj made 76% excellent attack (13/17, 1 error). Bulgarian Martin Atanasov was the only player in double digits in Chaumont – 10 points.
2018/19 Ligue A Masculine playoff finals – Game 2:
(1) Tours – (6) Chaumont 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-12), series 2-0
