Tourcoing Edges Out Montpellier 3-2 to Win French Cup Again After Seven Years

Tourcoing-Lille Métropole (TLM) has claimed its second-ever Coupe de France title after a nail-biting five-set victory over Montpellier in the final. The match ended 3-2 (25-23, 23-25, 25-22, 22-25, 15-11), showcasing high-level volleyball and relentless determination from both teams.
Montpellier, the current leader of the Marmara SpikeLigue, pushed Tourcoing to the limit. TLM seized the first set but faltered in the second as Montpellier’s solid defense equalized the match. In the third, Montpellier held a four-point lead (16-12), but Tourcoing rallied back, tying at 19-19 before stealing the set.
Despite trailing for much of the fourth set, TLM stayed in the fight, eventually falling to Montpellier, forcing a deciding tie-break. In the final set, Tourcoing surged ahead early and held their nerve to seal the historic win.
This marks Tourcoing’s second French Cup victory, their first coming in 2018.
