Montpellier closed Round 22 of the Marmara Spike League with a 3-1 win at Cannes, extending its winning streak to seven matches in all competitions and moving within one point of league leader Tours.
Montpellier prevailed 26-24, 19-25, 25-21, 25-20 behind a match-high 23 points from Tomas Lopez. The outside hitter attacked at 49% efficiency and added four blocks and one ace to earn MVP honors. Cannes was led by Xander Ketrzynski with 22 points.
The victory lifted Montpellier to 34 points, just one behind Tours, which was upset 3-2 by Poitiers on Saturday.
