RC Cannes
Recall that French champion has recently been stopped by Nantes, end therefore finished an unbleiavable winning streak in the domestic league. Counting both regular season and playoffs RC Cannes has made 80 consecutive wins in France (October 22, 2011 – November 8, 2014)… But, it is not the record!
Penn State University has won four straight college titles (2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010) and in that period girls from this team made 109 wins in a row (September 21, 2007 – September 11, 2010)!
Also we must not forget the amazing winning streak of VakifBank which made 73 consecutive victories, but counting all competitions (May 11, 2011 – January 25, 2014)! Turkish powerhouse has even entered the Guinness Book of Records for this achievement.
Actually, not many sports can brag with this kind of streaks. For example in football Sparta Prague scored 51 wins in a row (1920-1923), in baseball New York Giants reached 26 consecutive wins in 1916, in hockey Pittsburgh Penguins made 17 victories in a row in 1993… All three in men category.
Basketball can only compare to volleyball, as Greek women’s team Athinaikos reached the number of 105 (2008-2012), while girls from Connecticut University had a 90 wins in a row in NCAA.
