On Thursday VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN of Germany will be playing Poland’s multiple champions PGE Skra BELCHATOW for the Challenge Round of the 2014 CEV Volleyball Cup – Men. After missing out on a spot in the Playoffs 12 of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League, VfB is among the eight teams who are still in contention for the trophy of the second most prestigious club competition in Europe.

“We do not want to hide our ambitions” says head coach Stelian Moculescu. “We do stand a chance to win this home game.” “BELCHATOW is a very strong team” Moculescu says. “They would have performed well also in the CEV Volleyball Champions League if they only were given a chance to participate in that competition.” According to Moculescu, the key players pacing Skra are Stéphane Antiga and Samuele Tuia plus Argentinian Facundo Conte. “On top of this, Mariusz Wlazly is one of the best opposite players in the world and this year we have seen that he has found back his passion for Volleyball” Moculescu adds. “I think Skra stand a good chance at winning the CEV Cup this year. They are playing at a very high level.”
